Case Studies: A client's journey from a denied L-1A petition to green card

Visa Type: L1 Visa

A client's journey from a denied L-1A petition to green card

Synopsis

  • In 2017, our client came with us with a denied L-1A petition, which was prepared by another firm.
  • We prepared a new L-1A petition and successfully obtained an approval for our client for a period of three years.
  • In May 2020, we filed an I-140 petition for our client and while waiting for the decision, we filed an extension of L-1A status for another two years, which was approved.
  • Unfortunately, the I-140 petition was denied in March 2022. We filed a Motion to Reopen and Reconsider the decision.
  • While waiting for the decision on the motion, we filed another extension of L-1A status. Again, the extension petition was approved and our client was given the final two years on L-1A status.
  • Finally, in January 2023, USCIS reversed the decision on the I-140. Based on the approval, our client applied for adjustment of status with her spouse and minor children.
  • In July 2023, our client and dependents finally received their green cards.
