Our Process
Grenada + E2 VisaAn Indian couple came to Davies & Associates seeking an E2 US Visa. This visa category allows a person to relocate to the United States for the purpose of owning and operating a business. Yet, Indian nationals are not eligible for the E-2 Visa because no relevant treaty exists between India and the United States.
Undeterred, D&A’s E2 visa lawyers were able to recommend a solution. The couple first took citizenship of Grenada, an island in the Caribbean whose nationals are eligible for an E-2 Visa. Although part of the attraction of Grenada was the fact that it did not have a residency requirement and did not tax worldwide income, the couple fell in love with the island. It’s diverse economy, beautiful weather, welcoming people and proximity to the USA, meant they were only too happy to visit on multiple occasions.
The couple received their Grenadian citizenship within a matter of months. The programme is known for its quick processing times. The Grenada programme has two pathways to citizenship, a donation to a government fund or an investment in real estate. The couple opted for the donation route, which is normally faster.

Once in Grenada, the couple were passed from our Citizenship by Investment team to our E-2 Team. Our top US-based attorneys helped the couple prepare their application and draw up a business plan.
Verdie Atienza, the head of our E-2 processing team also ran a series of mock interviews to prepare the clients for any questions they might encounter at the US embassy. Grenada is covered by the US embassy on the neighboring island of Barbados.
Armed with a compelling business case and prepared for any eventuality, the couple made a successful trip to the US embassy in Barbados. Soon after they were able to fly to JFK where they were rushed through customs as E-2 Work Visa holders. They are now living their new life in the USA within a year of starting the whole process.
