Synopsis
Our client invested $130,000 to acquire 65% interest in an existing gas station with a convenience store in Virginia. In order to minimize the risk on the part of our client, we advised him to negotiate with the seller to make the purchase contingent on the approval of the visa. Since the seller agreed to the contingency clause, we set up an escrow account for our client where he transferred his $130,000. Now that the E-2 visa application has been approved, the funds in escrow will be released to the seller pursuant to the escrow agreement.It is interesting to note as well that part of the investment funds of our client came from his parents and his in-laws as well in addition to our client's savings from employment income.
